Contemporary Art Gallery
Established through the efforts of the local Pro Loco
, the Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea
(Contemporary Art Gallery) houses works which, over the years, were acquired from the national painting competition “Città di Civitella”, established 1964, and the collective sculpture exhibition “(S)oggettivamente Arte Moderna per un paese antico” established in 1976. Officially opened in 2006, the Galleria
houses 98 paintings and 41 sculptures; the exhibition also extends outdoors with works and installations dotting the streets of Civitella.
Hall of Remembrance
Established and run by the “Civitella Ricorda” association, the Sala della Memoria (Hall of Remembrance) was opened in 2004 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the infamous massacre perpetrated by nazi-fascists on 29 June 1944. The hall houses personal effects found on the victims as well as pictures of the town before and after its destruction, archive documents, historical research papers, witnesses, records from judicial investigations, videotapes recorded over the decades and a variety of war remants.
